About Me
I didn’t plan to become a therapist, although I always wanted to help people but I think that is a very surface level answer
The more in depth version is that in 2020 I did a talk for the university on Winchester in the UK for social work students about what it is like in Ireland as a trans person & later that week I received an email from a student of that class to say they hadn’t disclosed their trans identity to the class from fear of not being accepted.
Me showing up that day meant the world to that person, it showed the strength & courage it takes to advocate for yourself when there is little to no representation. Being trans is just one aspect of me & my work.
I am passionate about helping you explore parts of yourself in an affirming & accepting environment
What Therapy With Me Is Like
How I work is collaborative, which means YOU are the expert of your experience & I am here sitting beside you on that journey.
I have a strong connection toward self acceptance, self discovery, finding confidence & overall advocating for you in the therapeutic space!
My approach is not a one size fits all, I tailor that experience according to how you show up in therapy. I see you as a WHOLE person & the experiences you deal with (environmental, political) because they all make up the way you are in the world.
Who I Work With
For now I only provide individual therapy. Most of my work with clients is around exploring elements of identity, stress, anxiety, navigating life transitions, burnout…..the list could keep going!
Whatever the case may be there has been at no point of my client work where I was not able to hold space for.
Information I Think Is Important
In the world we live in, freedom of choice is a strong belief of mine. I am white, queer & trans. I think we have to align in a way that you are going to be comfortable sitting with me. Clients should feel they can talk about anything without diluting themselves in fear of hurting or upsetting their therapist.
Therapy is seen as a power dynamic but with me you can be rest assured I am laid back but not so laid back to the point of being unethical. I have regular supervision (every therapist HAS to do this) to make sure I am staying within an ethical framework.
I am a pre accredited member of IACP (Irish Association for counselling & psychotherapy)
